“How many unnecessary foot surgeries, cortisone injections, prescriptions, and referrals to orthopaedics and physical therapy did I take part in? Recently, I reflected on thousands of my former patients. From 1975 to 1995 I did foot surgery on about 70,000 to 75,000 patients. Wow! And, this does not include ingrown nails, warts, and skin lesion removals. These were bone, joint, tendon, nerve, and fascial deformities.
After integrating BOWEN Therapy into my practice in 1995, my surgical cases dropped by at least 30% until I retired in 2006. This means that I likely performed foot surgery on 15,000 to 20,000 patients from 1975 to 1995 that didn’t need the surgery! Much the same goes for the cortisone, prescriptions, and referrals that I did.
My new patient influx was always about 80 per month so that wasn’t a factor. Sure, when the toe is crooked I made it straight with a surgical procedure. All may have been well for a month or so then the toe sometimes began to bend again? Physical therapy and massage therapy usually didn’t help. So, my response to the patient usually was, “Sorry, you’re going to have to live with it. Or, I can do another surgical procedure to—.”
A Different Approach
After I learned how to incorporate BOWEN Therapy into my Podiatry practice patients had drastic improvements in their treatment outcomes, less surgical complications, fewer surgeries-injections-drugs needed, and I slept a whole lot better at night. They also had relief of other signs, symptoms, and disabilities (not just on the foot) which were way outside of my Podiatry Box!
From 1995 until I retired in 2006 many of my patients also cancelled many of their surgeries, injections, and testing by other doctors. I am surprised/embarrassed that it took me until February 2015 to have all of these “Ah-Ha’s”. Do you think any of my podiatry / Orthopedic peeps would buy into the program? Best always- Mitchell, aka Dr. Mitchell Mosher, 2015.”
Your Feet Need You
It is important to look after your feet regularly as they have to carry you a long way through life. In my BOWEN Therapy practice I find that difficulties starting in the foot can lead to problems all the way up the body. Knee pain, low back pain, pelvic pain, shoulder and neck problems. All of these things can have their origin in something to do with the feet. A gentle session of BOWEN Therapy can find these deep-seated tensions and ease them so that injury and pain are less likely.
